Making a choice

First of all – don’t be surprised reading the text in English – I am trying to learn this language and so I decided to write some blogs not in Czech. In the same place I have to apologize for the language – I am not a beginner but to advanced level is still some way :-).

The choice – for some people chance and nice thing for others a pain. Of course I don’t mean choice whether to take apple or orange, but choice of new job, buying the flat, new car (maybe to live with someone) or so on. The choice, that can change your life without (or with very difficult) second chance, is the subject of my thinking.

In such a moment we usually appreciate friends and people on our side – meaning people listening to you, not necessary giving advices, and people with understanding to your feelings and with respect to your decision. Yes, you can be rude in this moment (to some level), but other people should be tolerant. And other bonuses are people frank to you and frank with condition that can make your decision easier (and probably better). In my case – looking for new job/project is nice to talk to people that are ready to discuss conditions and give some feedback. I am still surprised, that in many companies on Monday means „sometimes“ – just today and rejects two offers for only one reason – they give decision more than week after agreed time. For the start of the cooperation (job) it’s crazy – I mean to start with delay and trying to cheat the other side.

So for other job-seekers I have one recommendation: if you can and have some other option, choose the companies that holds terms and agreed conditions – meaning terms, salary and so on. In situation you are negotiating the job – there is no relation master-slave, but partner-partner with offers: salary (and bonuses) on one side and work on the other. Starting a job as a slave means to stay a slave … even this is a choice, hard enough in some situations.
